Inspired by folkloric Indonesian tales and Javanese magic beliefs, you may see a reflection of yourself through a different lens from these traditions.
Mystic Islands Oracle will be your guide in living a magical and serene life, meditating on the Javanese philosophy of memayu hayuning bawana, or beautifying the beautiful world – in other words: finding harmony between the self, nature and the Divine, which are interconnected and have the power to affect one another and, ultimately, your reality.
The 44 cards of this fascinating deck are divided into five sections, each with special offerings or suggestions that you can incorporate into your personal rituals.
The accompanying guidebook includes a visualisation practice that will help transition your mind from the chaos of daily life into a quieter and more focused state of being before using the cards.
About the author:
Mira Nurdianti was born in Indonesia. Her parents and extended family raised her in Javanese tradition, teaching her the Javanese ways, beliefs and philosophy, and celebrating every milestone in her life through slametan, a feast where food rich in symbolism is served.
Working mainly with fine liners, Mira's illustrations are a diary in which she shares thoughts and appreciation of life. She hopes to connect with others and for them to conjure strength from within, like a talisman.
She lives in Sydney, Australia, where she runs Melancholy Memento, an online gallery and store featuring her artwork inspired by femininity, lore, melancholia, and witchcraft.
